RSET’s Deviprasad Goenka Management College of Media Studies (DGMC) celebrated its Annual Day on 19th January 2026 as a thoughtfully curated institutional event that reflected the college’s commitment to academic excellence, student development, and cultural expression.
The event commenced with the formal reception of the dignitaries. The programme formally opened with student anchors Saumya Pandey and Priyansha Singh welcoming the gathering. The audience was welcomed with a captivating Invocation Dance comprising three culturally significant performances. The opening act was a Chancheri dance, a traditional folk form from Kumaon, Uttarakhand, characterised by its graceful tempo and community spirit. Performed by DGMC students, this presentation held special significance as it had previously won the Second Prize at the 58th University of Mumbai Youth Festival, reflecting the institution’s cultural excellence at the university level. This was followed by a Sufi dance titled “Arziyaan,” symbolising devotion, harmony, and spiritual introspection. The invocation concluded with Talwaar Raas or Sword Dance, a vibrant Gujarati folk form traditionally performed during Navratri. Presented by DGMC alumni, this performance added emotional depth, continuity, and a sense of institutional legacy to the evening.
Following the invocation, the student anchors invited the Principal, Dr. Amee Vora, to present the Annual Report. The report comprehensively highlighted the institution’s academic progress, student and faculty achievements, co-curricular initiatives, industry collaborations, faculty development programmes, and quality enhancement measures undertaken during the academic year. Emphasis was placed on DGMC’s sustained focus on outcome-based education, experiential learning, and student-centric pedagogical practices.
The formal function continued under the stewardship of the Master of Ceremony, Ms. Nilanksha Sachdev, Faculty, DGMC. The dignitaries were formally welcomed to the dais, led by Principal Dr.Amee Vora. The presence of eminent dignitaries added prestige to the occasion, including Shri Ashok Saraf, President of RSET; Hon Sec Shri Kailash Kejriwal Shri Ashutosh Bishnoi- Chief Guest; and Guests of Honour Shri Neeraj Goenka and Ms. Sneha Desai, along with senior members of the Trust and institutional leadership.
The general welcome and institutional overview were followed by the Opening Address delivered by Shri Ashok Saraf, President of RSET. A visionary leader and Managing Director of Sarex Group of Companies, Shri Saraf spoke on the importance of academic integrity, innovation, and institutional growth.
The Chief Guest and Guests of Honour were formally introduced and felicitated by Shri Ashok Saraf and Shri Kailash Kejriwal. Shri Neeraj Goenka, Director at Texport Industries Pvt. Ltd. and a third-generation entrepreneur, was recognised for his contributions to industry, entrepreneurship, and education. Ms. Sneha Desai, an acclaimed playwright, screenwriter, and storyteller, was welcomed for her outstanding contributions to theatre, television, and cinema. Her notable works include Code Mantra, Blackout, Safarjan, Maharaj, and Laapata Ladies, India’s official Oscar entry for 2025. The Chief Guest, Shri Ashutosh Bishnoi, a distinguished professional with leadership roles across finance, media, advertising, and brand strategy, was felicitated next. His diverse career spanning organisations such as Mahindra Mutual Fund, Reader’s Digest India, and JWT strongly resonated with DGMC’s interdisciplinary approach to media education.
One of the most meaningful segments of the evening was the Meritorious Scholarship Distribution Ceremony. Scholarships were awarded to academically outstanding students from the MA programmes—MACJ, MAPR, and MAFTNMP—with CGPAs ranging from 8.58 to 9.54, as well as to a First-Year BAFTNMP student who secured 91.2% in the Grade 12 examinations. The scholarships were presented by the Chief Guest and the President of RSET, in the presence of the Principal, reaffirming DGMC’s commitment to recognising excellence at the entry level.
The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony followed, honouring students for achievements across academics, co-curricular activities, leadership, and overall performance. The awards celebrated consistency, discipline, teamwork, and dedication, reinforcing DGMC’s emphasis on holistic development. The Best Student Award, conferred upon Ms. Sayee Vidwans, recognised her sustained academic excellence, leadership qualities, and active involvement in institutional initiatives.
The intellectual depth of the evening was further enriched by addresses from Ms. Sneha Desai and Shri Ashutosh Bishnoi, who shared valuable insights on storytelling, leadership, ethics, and the long-term societal impact of media and communication. This was followed by the Best Student Award address delivered by Ms. Sayee Vidwans, who expressed gratitude and reflected on her academic journey at DGMC.
The formal segment concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the RSET management, dignitaries, faculty, staff, parents, and students.
The evening transitioned into the cultural segment titled “Kal-Key: The Future Unplugged,” a powerful thematic production exploring technology, digital identities, and the mindset of Generation Z. Conceptualised as a musical narrative and choreographed by Ms. Punita Hirani and Mr. Parth Sunita Desai, the performance examined humanity’s increasing dependence on virtual reality and technology, highlighting its impact on family bonds and real-life human connections. The narrative was interwoven with Indian mythology through the Dashavatars of Lord Vishnu. The concept culminated in the idea of the final avatar, Kalki, represented as the present generation itself—capable of eliminating ignorance and dependency through awareness and conscious choice.
