Interact Week

The initiative was conducted as part of Interact Week, a district-wide celebration under Rotaract District 3141. It aimed to foster learning, creativity, and leadership among students while strengthening the bond between the Rotaract and Interact movements. The activities focused on enhancing life skills, awareness, and teamwork through interactive and educational sessions, encouraging holistic development in an engaging environment.

Activity 1: Budget Boss – Learn & Build

The Rotaract Club of Deviprasad Goenka Management College of Media Studies conducted “Budget Boss” under Interact Week to enhance financial literacy among students. The session introduced participants to basic concepts of income, expenses and saving. Students discussed how much pocket money they receive on daily or weekly basis and shared how they choose to spend or save it in real-life situations. They then prepared their own monthly budget plans with fictional incomes and expenses, presenting how they would plan to save and spend. The initiative encouraged a practical understanding and application of financial management in an interactive and engaging manner.

Activity 2 : Career Conclave

“Career Conclave” aimed to help students discover who they want to become beyond professional labels. Students were invited to speak about the qualities they wish to develop in their future selves. The sessions comprised of stories and tips that guided the students on how they can start incorporating those traits into their everyday lives. In the end, everyone wrote a “Letter to Future Me”, penning down a message to their future selves capturing their hopes, commitments, vision and aspirations.

Activity 3 : Beyond the Badge

“Beyond the Badge” was an interactive workshop that introduced the students to the global Rotary movement, including Interact, Rotaract, and the Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) program. Insights were shared on how these platforms promote service, leadership, and cultural exchange. Many students were learning about these platforms for the first time, making the session particularly eye-opening. They showed curiosity and enthusiasm as they explored how Rotary empowers young people through service, leadership development, and cultural exchange. The workshop not only broadened their understanding of the Rotary family but also sparked genuine interest among students to join the movement in the future and contribute to meaningful community initiatives.

Activity 4 : Food Detective (Awareness Session)

“Food Detective” was conducted with the students of Kudilal Govindram Seksaria English School (KGES) during Interact Week. Led by one of the school’s faculty members, the session focused on uncovering the hidden additives and preservatives present in snacks the students commonly consume. To make the learning practical, students studied the packaged food items from their own tiffins and examined labels to identify ingredients such as artificial colors, excess sugar, and MSG. Taste-tests, and quick quizzes helped them differentiate between highly processed foods and healthier alternatives available around them. The activity encouraged students to think like detectives by questioning what goes into their food, comparing options, and choosing what benefits their body. It not only sparked curiosity but also inspired small but meaningful changes in their daily eating habits, fostering early awareness about nutrition and food safety.

Activity 5 : Beyond the Game

“Beyond the Game” was conducted in two exciting parts as a part of Interact Week, integrating the thrill of sports with a learning experience in event management. The first segment took place outdoors, where students enjoyed a short football match that promoted teamwork, enthusiasm, and active participation. Following this, the session moved indoors and began with students sharing their favourite sports and sportspersons. This gradually transitioned into an interactive discussion on sports management including how events are planned, how teams are organized, how logistics are managed, and how everything is executed smoothly. The team used examples from the school’s own Annual Sports Day to help students relate to the concepts easily. The activity concluded with a group of students performing Surya Namaskara, showcasing discipline, focus, and the school’s encouragement of yoga as an early fitness practice. By combining on-field excitement with behind-the-scenes learning, “Beyond the Game” helped students appreciate both the joy of playing and the thoughtful planning required to make any sports event a success.

Activity 7 : Cybercrime Awareness Session (RSW Activity)

The Rotaract Club of Deviprasad Goenka Management College of Media Studies (RCDGMC) participated in a Cyber Crime Awareness initiative representing our parent Rotary, The Rotary Club of Bombay Airport as a part of the Rotary Service Week Activities. The sessions aimed to equip students and youth with essential knowledge to stay safe in the digital world. The awareness drive was held at Matunga Premier School and later at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Matunga. The topics covered included safe internet usage, identifying online threats such as phishing, cyberbullying, identity theft, and social media scams, along with guidance on how to respond to and report cybercrimes. Participants also gained insight into the basic legal framework that protects individuals online. RCDGMC volunteers actively attended and supported both sessions, helping coordinate activities and engaging with audience members to ensure smoother communication and participation.

But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences
