On February 12, 2025, the Rotaract Club of DGMC (RCDGMC) organized a Cervical Cancer Awareness Programme at Keltipada village in Aarey Colony. The session was led by Dr. Bela Bhatt, a well-known gynaecologist, who provided essential information about cervical cancer, its symptoms, and preventive measures to the girls and women of the village.
The villagers, having limited access to healthcare awareness, were unfamiliar with the disease and its early warning signs. Dr. Bhatt explained the importance of early detection, regular screenings, and available treatment options in simple and understandable terms. She also guided the attendees on the necessary steps to take if symptoms are noticed.
The session aimed to improve awareness and encourage proactive health measures among the villagers. The event served as an informative initiative, helping the community gain a better understanding of cervical cancer and its prevention. Additionally, Dr. Bhatt emphasized the significance of the HPV vaccine as a preventive measure and addressed common myths and misconceptions associated with it.
The success of this awareness drive highlighted the impact of outreach programmes in bridging the gap between medical knowledge and underprivileged communities. By equipping the women of Keltipada with vital information, the project empowered them to take charge of their health and seek timely medical attention if needed. Through this initiative, RCDGMC reaffirmed its dedication to social responsibility, emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those with limited access to medical resources.
