The Rotaract Club of DGMC conducted, “Art Beyond Bars – an Art Therapy session” at Central Jail, Byculla for its Female Inmates, on 29th January 2025, under its Panchadhara initiative. The session was facilitated by Dr. Krupa Gandhi, an expert in therapeutic interventions who has conducted similar activities in jails across Gujarat.
The initiative aimed to provide a creative and emotional outlet for the inmates, developing their mental well-being through artistic expression. The session comprised various engaging activities, including karaoke singing, where inmates were encouraged to express themselves through music, and painting sessions, allowing them to channel their thoughts and emotions onto canvases. These activities not only helped them develop a sense of self-expression but also created an environment of positivity and reflection, offering a break from their routine.
The event was well-received, with the inmates actively participating and showing great enthusiasm. The therapy session proved to be a source of relief, engagement, and joy, reinforcing the transformative power of art as a tool for healing and rehabilitation.
