A Night to Remember: DGMC Annual Day 2025
The sprawling grounds of PDSA Turf lit up with excitement on the 24th of January 2025, as RSET’s Deviprasad Goenka Management College of Media Studies (DGMC) hosted its much-awaited Annual Day Celebration. Orchestrated by the Culture Club and the Student Council under the guidance of Dr. Amee Vora. The evening was a vibrant blend of celebration, reflection, and sheer entertainment. The Annual Day, a cornerstone event in the academic calendar, brought together students, faculty, and guests to celebrate another year of learning, growth, and achievements. The Chief Guest for the evening, Ms. Monisha Advani, a prominent name in the Indian entertainment industry, and the Guest of Honour, Ms. Nupur Goenka, a trustee of RSET graced the occasion with their presence.
The event began on an enthusiastic note as the hosts for the evening, students Saumya and Pratham, extended a warm welcome to the audience. The occasion commenced with the National Anthem, followed by a soulful Invocation Dance performed by DGMC students. The graceful choreography and spiritual ambiance set the perfect tone for the celebrations that followed. The formal part of the evening was anchored by the poised and energetic Prof. Bhavya Kotian, who ensured a smooth flow of the evening’s proceedings.
One of the early highlights was the screening of a short film made by DGMC students, showcasing the college’s journey and creative accomplishments. The film offered a glimpse into the dynamic academic and co-curricular life at DGMC, reflecting the talents, hard work, and technical expertise of its students. It served not only as a retrospective of the past year but also as a reaffirmation of the college’s commitment to adopting innovation and creativity among its learners.
Following the film presentation, Principal Dr. Amee Vora took the stage to present the Annual Report. Her address reflected on the academic achievements, new initiatives, industry collaborations, and student activities undertaken during the year. She highlighted how DGMC continues to evolve as a centre of excellence in media education, guided by values of inclusivity, creativity, and industry readiness. Ms. Monisha Advani’s keynote address added immense value to the evening. With the formal proceedings concluded, the stage was set for the cultural showcase titled “Cinema: कल, आज और कल“. This entertainment segment celebrated the evolution of Indian cinema through a series of vibrant performances spanning across decades. The program featured seven acts, each representing a different era or genre of cinema, including the golden age of Bollywood, modern rap culture, romantic hits, comic skits, and festive celebrations.
Each performance was a burst of colour, energy, and emotion, as students brought to life iconic songs and dance sequences with zeal and flair. The choreography was creative, the costumes were elaborate, and the enthusiasm of the performers was infectious. Whether it was the retro charm of classic Bollywood or the pulsating beats of contemporary numbers, the audience was treated to a visual and musical delight that bridged generations and celebrated the timeless influence of cinema on our culture.
As the evening drew to a close, Principal Dr. Amee Vora returned to the stage to deliver the Vote of Thanks. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event — the students, faculty members, organizing teams, performers, and the invited guests. She also acknowledged the unwavering support of RSET and emphasized the importance of such occasions in strengthening community bonds and celebrating the shared spirit of learning and growth.
