The Social Service Club of Deviprasad Goenka Management College of Media Studies had organized a screening of award winning documentary ‘DAUGHTERS OF MOTHER INDIA’ followed by an interactive session with its Director/Producer, Ms.Vibha Bakshi on 19 August 2016 at Durgadevi Saraf Hall.
The documentary highlights the incident surrounding a girl, named “Nirbhaya”, by the media to protect her identity. It then showed archival footage of the aftermath, with angry and restless mobs pouring on to the streets, shouting slogans and demanding justice. In brief interviews, police officers and civil society members discussed about the need for change and for justice. However, the one thing that overshadowed everything else was the girl’s own fierce desire to live, which she conveyed to the world, even as her life was ebbing away.
