Enthusiastic Students & Staff Members Lined Up With Bags of Garbage Collected
NSS Volunteers & Rotaract Club of DGMC Show The Way in Beach Clean Up Drive
The NSS Unit & Rotaract Club of Deviprasad Goenka Management College of Media Studies (DGMC) conducted a “Beach Clean Up Drive” at Juhu Beach on Sunday, 24th January 2021 from 9 am to 11 am. 22 volunteers, apart from two faculty members, Saurabh Deshpande & Shalu Balan, gathered at the beach at the scheduled time and spot, and tirelessly worked along a 500 meters stretch of the famed beach to painstakingly pick up large amounts of garbage carelessly littered around by unconscientious citizens.
The entire activity was carefully planned. Small bands of volunteers methodically collected the garbage and brought it together at a predetermined central point, from where it was disposed of in one of the large garbage bins that have been set up by the authorities.
The regular morning walkers and other visitors to the beach were seen applauding this little flock of environmental angels. Some passers-by even joined in the noble task, lending an appreciative hand to the efforts of DGMC students. At the end of the activity, the visibly tired student-volunteers expressed a sense of satisfaction at their hard work and reiterated their commitment towards a cleaner and greener Mumbai.
