DGMC has taken up the projects of Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE), a University of Mumbai’s initiative for the very first year. As it is the beginning of DLLE Project, the institute has decided to start with just two activities initially so that students get to understand about the concept and idea of DLLE. The two projects taken by the college are Annapurna Yojna and Population Education Club.
The Annapurna activity is related to serving healthy and home-made food in the college premises. Anna means “food” or “grain” and Pūrna means “full, complete and perfect”. The purpose of this project is to instil entrepreneurial skills in the students so that in future they may use this skill to earn their livelihood.
The first stall was put up on 12th August where in Team Annapurna decided to serve Sev puri, traditional Kothimbir vadi and Cupcakes to give some spicy and tangy taste with a tinge of sweet flavour. This activity has not only given the students an idea about how a business works from raw material to finished product but also helped them to learn the techniques of marketing and sales. The first activity of Annapurna Yojna was quite successful as the team Annapurna was able to sell all their products within an hour.
DLLE enrolled students sell their wares every Friday in the DGMC lobby.
