HINDI DIWAS

Celebration of Hindi Diwas by RSET Institutions: A Day of Fun, Learning, and Cultural Unity

Hindi Diwas, celebrated annually on September 14, 2024, is a day that holds immense cultural significance in India. It marks the adoption of Hindi as one of the official languages of the country and serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving and promoting our linguistic heritage. This year, the institutions of RSET, including Deviprasad Goenka Management College of Media Studies, organized a vibrant celebration that engaged students in various activities, showcasing their love for the Hindi language and their commitment to keeping it alive.

The celebration organised by the Culture and the Literati Cub attracted a large number of participants. With over 40 students attending, the atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and energy. Eighteen students actively participated in the planned activities, demonstrating their eagerness to express themselves in Hindi.

The event provided a platform for students to come together, share their thoughts, and engage in friendly competition, all while honing their language skills. One of the highlights of the day was the “Kya Kahoge” activity, a fun and engaging game where students were given situations and had to respond in Hindi. This exercise not only tested their vocabulary and quick thinking but also encouraged them to express their emotions and opinions in the language. Participants found themselves grappling with phrases, idioms, and expressions, which underscored the richness of Hindi as a medium of communication. The spontaneous nature of this game brought out laughter and camaraderie among participants, making it a memorable experience.

Another intriguing segment was the “3 Shabdo Ki Kahani,” where participants were tasked with creating a story using just three words. This activity pushed the students to think creatively while relying on their linguistic skills. It was fascinating to see how each participant interpreted their chosen words, weaving them into short narratives that ranged from humorous to thought-provoking.

The exercise illuminated the beauty of storytelling in Hindi and the power of language to convey deep meanings in a few words. The “Haan Aur” activity was another highlight that encouraged students to engage in a continuous dialogue. In this activity, participants had to keep a conversation going using only “Haan” (yes) and “Aur” (and).

This proved to be a humorous yet challenging task, as students had to maintain the flow of conversation while being restricted in their verbal choices. It emphasized the idea that effective communication is not solely about vocabulary but also about tone, context, and body language.

While the activities were filled with laughter and enthusiasm, they also highlighted an important aspect of language learning: the challenges of continuously speaking and communicating in Hindi. Many students found it difficult to articulate their thoughts fluidly, often reverting to English or struggling with Hindi vocabulary. This experience served as a reminder of the linguistic shifts that often occur in our multilingual society, where English frequently takes precedence.

The event also sparked discussions about the need for a deeper understanding of Hindi, particularly among younger generations. Many students expressed a desire to improve their command over the language, recognizing that Hindi is not just a means of communication but also a vital part of their cultural identity. This sentiment echoed throughout the event, fostering a collective responsibility among participants to embrace and promote Hindi in their daily lives.

Despite the challenges, the overall atmosphere of the event was one of joy and celebration. The students enjoyed every moment, relishing the opportunity to engage with their peers and showcase their Hindi language skills. The celebration was not merely an academic exercise; it was a heartfelt acknowledgment of the cultural richness that the Hindi language embodies.

The enthusiastic participation and the spirited discussions during the event emphasized the importance of such celebrations in fostering a sense of community among students. It reinforced the idea that language is not just a tool for communication but a bridge that connects us to our roots and traditions.

The celebration of Hindi Diwas at RSET institutions, particularly DGMC, was a resounding success. Through engaging activities and vibrant participation, students were able to celebrate their linguistic heritage while confronting the challenges of language use in a modern context. As they laughed, learned, and shared, they created memories that would last a lifetime.

Events like these are crucial for promoting cultural awareness and encouraging students to embrace their linguistic identity. As we continue to navigate a world increasingly dominated by global languages, it is essential to cherish and promote our native languages like Hindi. Celebrating Hindi Diwas was not just an event; it was a commitment to keeping the spirit of Hindi alive for generations to come.

But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences
