DGMC’s Literati Club held its first event for 2020 on the 29 th of September.
The event was called ‘Vox 2020’. It wasn’t a competitive event but an open mic where students interested in writing or oration came forward to share their thoughts and ideas with everyone. The idea of the event was for students to write a piece of prose or poetry on the theme ‘Isolation and Solitude’ and present it in front of the audience. Students who wanted to participate had to send in their written submission beforehand, by the 27 th of September.
The event started at 3:30 pm with a decent turnout of fifty people on an averaged. There were no judges for the event but a panel of three professors from the college was constituted to comment on the pieces. The panel included Kislaya Jha, Anchal Jain and Saurabh Deshpande. Gracing the event with her presence was the Principal, Dr. Amee Vora, who also shared the profound input every now and then. Overseeing the event as the Teacher-in-charge for the Literati Club was Professor Selvi.

The event started with the host Digbijoy Ghose initiating the event and welcoming everyone while also explaining what VOX 2020 was and what it is like to conduct and attend events virtually. The Principal was then invited to give her opening remarks. Following that, the panel was introduced and welcomed. The anchor then started inviting the participants to perform. One by one, the participants came forward and performed. The panellists took turns to comment on their respective prose or poetry. Their comments were highly constructive and well meaning. Most of the students performed poetry. Students like Devansh Ahuja, Rishikesh Kumar and Gaisul Azam were especially appreciated for their efforts and thought. While the event was in progress, certain members of the audience expressed the desire to perform impromptu as well. The Principal and the panellists all agreed to let them perform at the end. As a result, three students came up to perform. Students and Teachers also appreciated Ramritik Dubey & his power packed rendition of poetry written by him.
In conclusion, the event was very interactive and enjoyable for everyone. It was a healthy session where literature was discussed with great passion and enthusiasm. After the performances were done, Trupti Mishra from the Literati Club delivered the Vote of Thanks and thus concluded the event.
